The mean WBC count in the first month follow-up was 11.19  ± 5.58  (t-test  = 7.56), which was a significant increase from the preoperative value. After 3 months the mean value of WBCs was 25.84  ± 12.65, which was another significant increase from the previous follow-up visit. After 6 months the mean value was 29.94  ± 11.93, with a greater increase than the previous visit and with a significant increase from the preoperative value. After 9 months the mean value became 14.09  ± 6.90, which was a slight decrease from the previous visit but still with a significant increase from the preoperative value. After 12 months the mean value was 22.54  ± 11.04, with a significant increase from the preoperative value. WBC, white blood cell.
