Body

We read the article on 'Patient satisfaction and compliance in family practice' with great interest [1]. Alkot et al. [1] concluded that 'Patient satisfaction as a method of evaluating health services is essential and satisfaction with delivered services is important'. Many factors affect compliance – for example, the patient, the disease, the regimen, the physician, and the healthcare system [1]. We would like to share ideas on this report. Indeed, the satisfaction is an important indicator for monitoring the service in medicine. Nevertheless, it should be noted that medicine is not the same as other service business. Sometimes, the practitioner must perform according to standards, and this might not be satisfied by the patients. In addition, the satisfaction does not mean quality. For example, in the ISO 9002-certified medical unit where satisfaction is an important indicator, the problem of management and error can still be seen at a high rate [2].
